Who is Leonoyne?

Leonoyne is an Elvaan from San d'Oria who combines the offensive magic of a Black Mage with the defensive resilience of a Paladin sub job. This unusual combination makes her tankier than most mages, able to survive hits that would knock out a typical BLM. She specializes in ice-element magic.

Key Abilities

• Ice Nukes — Leonoyne focuses on ice-element spells like Blizzard and Freeze. Ice magic is strong against fire-element enemies and is one of the harder-hitting elements in FFXI.
• Paladin Defenses — Her PLD sub job gives her access to defensive abilities and spells like Protect and Shell. She can wear heavier armor than a typical mage, giving her more HP and defense.
• Cure Spells — From her Paladin sub job, she can cast basic healing spells on herself. This makes her more self-sufficient than a pure Black Mage.
• Survivability — The combination of BLM offense and PLD defense means she is harder to kill than other mage Trusts. She can take a few hits without going down immediately.

When to Use Leonoyne

Leonoyne is a good choice when you want magical damage but are worried about your mage getting killed. Her Paladin sub job makes her significantly tougher than pure BLM Trusts like Shantotto II. The tradeoff is that she deals less damage since her sub job does not boost her magic. Use her in situations where enemies have area attacks that might hit your back line, or when you want a mage who can survive without constant healing.
