Who is Lion II?

Lion II is the upgraded version of Lion, the Mithran heroine from Rise of the Zilart. This version represents Lion at full strength — a master tracker who combines ranged combat prowess with ninjutsu shadow magic for exceptional survivability. She fights smarter and harder than her base version.

Key Abilities

• Utsusemi — ninjutsu magic that creates shadow copies of Lion II. Each shadow absorbs one physical attack completely, meaning she takes zero damage from that hit. This is one of the best defensive tools in FFXI. When all shadows are consumed, she recasts to get new ones.
• Improved damage — Lion II hits harder than base Lion with better weapon skills and AI.
• Evasion — retains Lion's natural evasion on top of the shadow protection.

When to Use Lion II

Lion II is a significant upgrade over base Lion. The addition of Utsusemi shadows makes her much more survivable — she can absorb multiple hits without taking any damage, which reduces the healing burden on your party. She is a good choice when you want a melee DD that stays alive on her own. Always pick Lion II over base Lion if you have both.
