Who is Rughadjeen?
Rughadjeen is one of the Five Serpent Generals of the Empire of Aht Urhgan, elite warriors who serve as the empire's greatest defenders. A Hume Paladin of remarkable discipline, he leads his forces with calm authority during the Treasures of Aht Urhgan expansion. His sense of honor and duty to the empire make him a reliable, no-nonsense protector on the battlefield.

Key Abilities
- Cure — A white magic healing spell that restores HP. Like all Paladin Trusts, Rughadjeen can heal himself to stay in the fight longer. "HP" stands for Hit Points, your health bar in FFXI.
- Holy — A light-element offensive spell. It deals damage to the enemy while also generating enmity (the game's term for "threat" or "aggro"), helping Rughadjeen keep the enemy focused on him.
- Flash — A spell that blinds the enemy briefly and generates a large burst of enmity. This is the most important tool any Paladin has for holding a monster's attention. The blind effect also causes the enemy to miss some of its attacks.
- Fast Cast — A passive trait that makes Rughadjeen's spells cast faster. This means less time standing still and vulnerable while casting, and more time reacting to the fight.
When to Use Rughadjeen
Rughadjeen is a solid, dependable tank Trust that works well in the early and mid game. He does his job without any gimmicks: he holds the enemy's attention with Flash and Holy, heals himself with Cure, and takes hits. If you do not have access to August yet, Rughadjeen is an excellent substitute.
He pairs well with any healer Trust. For new players building their first Trust party, Rughadjeen is available early from Login Points Set 2, making him one of the first reliable tanks you can pick up. Once you eventually unlock August, Rughadjeen becomes a backup option, but he will serve you well until then.
Tips for New Players
- Rughadjeen is a great first tank to pick up from Login Points. Set 2 rotates in earlier than Set 5 (where August lives), so you may have access to Rughadjeen sooner.
- Like all tanks, he works best with a healer behind him. Even a basic healer Trust will dramatically improve his survivability.
- Do not expect him to hold hate as well as August in very tough fights. For casual content and leveling, though, he is more than enough.
