Open-world dynamic events across the leveling path — 78 FATEs in 38 zones
FATEs are open-world timed events modeled on the system of the same name from another well-known online Final Fantasy. While you are exploring, an event can erupt in your current zone — a sudden swarm of enemies or a powerful boss appears in a defined area. Everyone in the zone is invited, everyone shares the rewards, and your contribution is scored individually.
Scythe ships 78 FATEs across 38 outdoor zones covering the full 1-99 leveling path, with extras in the Abyssea, Adoulin, and Escha endgame zones. Each zone has its own level cap — when you engage a FATE above your level, you are synced down so the encounter scales properly.

Your contribution is scored from two sources: kill credit (10 per trash kill, 120 per notorious boss) and time in the FATE radius (1 point per second). The total determines your tier — Gold, Silver, or Bronze.
Pets and trusts credit their master. The killer's full party is added to the contribution list automatically, so traditional XP party play works as expected. Enmity-list participants get credit too, so support roles are not shut out.

EXP scaling: The percentage is taken from the EXP required to
reach the level cap of the zone you're in. So a Gold finish in a level-85
Abyssea FATE awards ~9,800 raw EXP, while a Gold finish in a level-99 Adoulin
FATE awards ~11,200 raw EXP. The map.EXP_RATE multiplier (4× on
Scythe) is then applied on top by the server.
Every FATE is one of two types. The announcement names the event but does not tell you which type — you'll see at a glance: a crowd of enemies means annihilation; one large mob means notorious.
Kill a target number of mobs (10-24 depending on the zone's level band) inside the time limit. Mobs spawn in two waves — when the first wave is roughly half cleared, reinforcements arrive with additional spawns, raising your kill target. Each mob has 3× HP and 2× attack/defense over its native pool.
A single boss spawn. The boss has 10-15× HP, full stat scaling (5-8× combat stats), and uses the family's native mob skills. Defeat the boss before the timer expires to clear. These are tuned for a coordinated party at the listed level cap — solo clears require gear and class advantage.

⚠ broken — Two FATEs are currently flagged for repair and will not spawn: Glacier Horde (Beaucedine Glacier, G-7) cannot complete due to final-wave mob spawn failures, and Meriphataud Raptor Surge has the same issue. Both were reported during live testing and will return when fixed.
Abyssea, Adoulin, and Escha FATEs. Higher mob counts (20-24 kills per annihilation), longer timers, and 15× HP bosses with 7-8× combat stats. Bring a party.
